2/26, Oscar edition...

Oh the Oscars...The glitz and the glamour of Hollywood ’s biggest self congratulatory night, the 79th annual academy awards took place last night in sunny California . Martin Scorsese won best director for “The Departed.” If that wasn’t enough for the director who had yet to win an Oscar, “The Departed” took home the most coveted best picture Oscar as well. Chicago ’s Jennifer Hudson took home the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “Dreamgirls” and Helen Mirran won best actress for her performance in “The Queen.” Ellen DeGeneres hilariously hosted the show. Will Farrell and Jack Black provided a very entertaining musical number and Meryl Streep never quite got out of character.

My Best Dressed list: Kate Winslet, (if only teal looked that flawless on me), Nicole Kidman (Tom Cruise you dumped this hot red number for Katie Holmes? Dude you are nuts!), Cate Blanchett (She makes us notoriously funny faced English look amazing), Naomi Watts (Yellow is our friend), and Maggie Gyllenhall (classic). Nods to Reese Witherspoon and Jodie Foster as well for classic, simple elegance.

My worst Dressed list: Sadly two stars who should have known better, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. You guys stared in a major fashion movie in which you made me want to max out my Visa, now I want to take stuff back! Jennifer Lopez, best dressed my ass! She looked like she got in a fight with a chandelier. Jennifer Hudson, big shoulders, big jacket not a winning combo. Cameron Diaz, dress inspired by paper airplanes, origami lovers would be proud, I am not.

Oh the Razzies...While many of Hollywood’s A listers watched their paycheck’s soar, many (mostly on the B, C, D etc... list) also watched their paychecks sour as the 27th Razzie Awards took place along side the Oscars. “Basic Instinct 2” picked up “top” honors winning worst picture and Sharon Stone (her ninth nomination) took home worst actress for her role in the movie. Wayan’s brother’s comedy, or not, “Little Man” picked up three awards and Shyamalan’s “Lady in the Water” picked up two.

Conservative’s nightmare...Don’t worry Al, Bush can’t steel this one and the Supreme Court holds no sway with the Academy. Al Gore’s global warming documentary won an Oscar for best documentary and best song. The VP has been a champion of the global warming issue post 2000 election blues and might actually do more good for this country than our current president ever could. Not every day does a lesbian win best song for a documentary by a democrat about a “bleeding heart liberal issue” Bush can’t ignore anymore during a ceremony that reaches millions more than the State of the Union ever could. God I love Hollywood !

And this is your Oscar news you can use. I’m sure other things happened today, but does it really matter...no, not when Dior and Oscar De La Renta are concerned.
