The front page of the New York Times--Captain America is dead. The Marvel comic superhero has been killed off by the comic book's creators. There has been a civil war going on in Marvel comic world. Captain America, choosing to take his fight to the courts, was shot dead on the steps of a court house. Super powers save lives, civil courts take them.
Another hurdle and hoop--House dems plan to bring a bill to the floor to overturn Bush archive directive next week. In another attempt to block information that is rightfully the publics, president Bush issued a executive order that severly restricted access to presidential papers. The 2001 order has created a backlog of orders with some researchers waiting over 5 years for information that should have taken a few months. Presidential correspondance and papers often paint a more realistic and truthful (and at times embarrassing) view of presidents and their policies. If President Bush is worried that his papers will embarrass him in public, he needs only to open his mouth at a press conference. He does a fine job on his own.
And will they listen--King Abdullah of Jordan addressed Congress today calling for a greater push towards solving the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Recalling the 2002 Saudi Arabia plan that called for, among other things, recognition of Israel in return for a viable Palestinian state, King Abdullah said that making this peace happen was far more important than Iraq in securing lasting peace in the region and the world. Is that Dick Cheney sleeping in the background or did he finally have a fatal heart attack? Good points falling sadly on deaf ears.
How many news you can use will it take to reach the sun--How many emails have you sent today? How many podcasts, mp3s etc... have you downloaded? According to a new study by tech research firm IDC, we have managed to produce enough digital info to reach the sun--12 book stacks that each reach from the earth to the sun, or 3 million times all of the information ever written down in every book ever published. Incredibly daunting but so believable, just ask the 162 emails I just deleted.
Evening NYT headlines: Pardon Libby? The ongoing political scandal continues. I'm sure there is some innocent man on deathrow who is in much more need of that pardon than a liar. But our Pres would probably much rather bring out old sparky than watch a friend go to jail. AP: Pentagon sends more troops to Baghdad. At least my bro gets to come home soon! Two more weeks! AP: Georgia truck driver claims half of 350 mil mega millions and I still get to keep my dollar for next Wednesday breakfast burrito.
This is your news you can use. Enjoy
